Using Printed Photo Books to Offer Families a Different Kind of Yearbook
When most people think about yearbooks, they think about those lovely bound volumes of high school embarrassment complete with school logos and things that were written with the intent of being witty. While very few people really want to pull out their high school yearbooks down the road, there’s something about the idea that doesn’t need to be something that everyone dreads.
As a photographer, if you take a lot of family shots and want something different to offer to your clients, the idea of a yearbook isn’t necessarily a bad one – at least not if you do it the right way.
With a printed photo book, a little creativity, and an assortment of family photos and memorabilia, it’s easy to create a yearbook that your clients will treasure.
Collect some key information; offer “action shots” as part of the package – take photos at major events like ballet recitals, basketball games, weddings etc. and take photos of the family at play. Show something about each individual member of the family, and show how they all fit together.
Printed photo books can be a more lasting token of a year – something far more tangible and real than simply portraits of the kids or snapshots at events.
