Self publishing is an ideal option for photographers because it gives them control over the creative process of printed photo books, and helps to ensure that they are able to get their books out there. Simply put, traditional publishing houses are going to take fewer risks; by self-publishing your work, you’ll find that you are able to use the images that you think are right for the project, you can order copies as needed and, in general you can take full control of the process.
By looking at self-publishing when you are getting ready to design printed photo books - even just at the point where you first have the idea - you’re going to find that the process of creating photo books is more rewarding, amd that you will enjoy it far more.
